GB Start

The GB Start Rowing Academy sees LYR working together with the University of East London Talent programme and British Rowing to give young people from across East London the opportunity to try rowing and, for those with the talent and determination, to build towards joining GB Rowing's Talent Pathways.

By building a link between LYR's grassroots Active Row programme and the existing GB Rowing talent pathway programme, the programme is aiming to help young people from under-represented groups who have the talent and focus progress to the highest levels of the sport of rowing. Over time, this will help to make the GB Rowing team more inclusive and representative of the nation at large. The programme comprises of re-vitalised UEL Boat Club, a GB Rowing Academy squad and links into LYR's grassroots programme in Newham and beyond.
