The National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships is returning to Lee Valley Athletics Centre for its 10th year on Friday 11th March 2016.
The non-profit event is hosted by London Youth Rowing, and is the biggest indoor rowing competition the UK has to offer junior rowers. Children & teenagers aged 11-18 will gather to race in individual and team relay events in the hope of being crowned National Champion.
From Hounslow to Havering, LYR coaching staff work tirelessly throughout the year exposing children to indoor and water rowing programs, and encourage students to make their racing debut at NJIRC.
“The atmosphere is amazing,” said one student from LYR Thames Tradesmen Rowing club. She raced for the first time two years ago and is looking to improve her score this time around, “It’s the one indoor event we work towards all year round,” she said.
This year’s event looks set to be bigger than ever, with entries already coming in from schools and rowing clubs enrolled in LYRs mission. There are also a collection of VIPs set to attend. Stay tuned to our news and social media feeds to find out who will be turning up.
Entries are £7/rower (+VAT), rising to £10 +VAT from 15th February. Please be aware that we will close entries if we reach capacity before this date, so please don’t delay to avoid disappointment.
